Match the delivery to your order
Before opening individual supplies or setting up equipment, compare the delivery information with the product you expected. Check the manufacturer, model, size, side where relevant and package quantity. Similar packaging can contain a different configuration, so read the labels rather than relying only on the picture.
Keep the packing information while you review the delivery. If something is different, missing or damaged, contact the supplier for guidance before using it. Give the exact product and order information so the team can investigate the specific issue. Do not quietly substitute another item because it looks close enough.
Find the instructions for this model
Locate the manufacturer’s instructions and any information supplied by your care team. Check that the instructions describe the exact device or accessory you received. If a manual is missing or difficult to read, ask where to obtain the correct version and what assistance is available.
A general website guide cannot replace model-specific setup or training. Some equipment needs adjustment, fitting or instruction before use. Confirm those arrangements rather than assuming the item is ready simply because it has arrived. Ask your care team about any instruction that affects your treatment.
Think about where the item will be used
Review the manufacturer’s requirements for the intended space. Depending on the equipment, relevant questions may include power, placement, storage, access, lighting and available assistance. The FDA highlights the importance of the home setting when medical devices are used outside a clinical facility.
For an item that depends on power or another essential supply, ask the care team or manufacturer about the appropriate backup plan. Do not improvise a connection, accessory or charging arrangement. Use only the setup described for the device and seek help when something is unclear.
Keep the support information close
Save the supplier’s contact information, manufacturer support details, model number and any serial or lot information with the instructions. These details can be useful for a product question, warranty discussion or recall check. A personal equipment folder can be paper or digital, as long as private information is kept appropriately protected.
If an item is not working as expected, follow the manufacturer’s instructions and contact the relevant support team. For a return or exchange question, ask for directions before sending anything back; product condition and the type of item may affect the available options.
