Identify the pouching system first
Record whether your current product is a one-piece pouch or a component of a two-piece system. In a two-piece system, the pouch and skin barrier have their own product references. A familiar brand name alone is not enough to identify a compatible pair.
Keep the complete name and manufacturer reference for each part. Drainable, closed-end and urostomy pouch descriptions identify different configurations; retain the exact format selected by your ostomy care team.
Separate the opening from the coupling measurement
A barrier opening and the flange or coupling that joins a two-piece system are different product details. Manufacturer ordering tables can list both. Read the label heading beside the measurement rather than assuming every millimeter or inch value describes the same feature.
For example, Medrax lists a Natura+ pouch reference with a 57 mm coupling and a Premier one-piece urostomy pouch with a 1.25-inch opening. The measurements belong to different configurations and are not a reason to substitute one for the other.
Check accessories and pack quantities
Barrier rings, strips, paste, powder, adhesive remover and belts are individual supply listings. They do not automatically come with a pouch order. Record the exact accessory and quantity used in your current care plan.
Some product photos show packaging, several boxes or a representative family image. Use the written item reference and confirmed order quantity; do not count the objects in the photograph as the promised shipment.

Ask before changing the system
Your ostomy nurse or other treating clinician should guide changes to fit, barrier style and skin care. Medrax can help clarify the listed model and ordering requirements. Confirm availability, coverage review and patient cost before an order is finalized.
