Which diabetic footwear is listed?
Medrax lists a depth inlay diabetic shoe and a separate prefabricated multiple density diabetic insert. The shoe listing is per shoe, so confirm whether your request is for one shoe or a pair. The insert is a separate product family; its photograph does not establish that it comes with the shoe.
These listings describe product families rather than a confirmed brand, style or size. Before an order, Medrax confirms the available model, width, side, quantity and fitting arrangements. The insert must match the prescribed footwear configuration. Do not select a shoe or insert from its appearance alone.
What should I confirm about fitting?
Tell Medrax whether this is your first footwear request or a replacement. Keep the name and size of any current shoes and inserts available for the conversation. Your clinician or qualified footwear professional should determine the appropriate product and fit.
Ask who will take measurements, prepare any inserts and check the completed fitting. An existing shoe size does not establish that another style or width will fit. Confirm which appointments or documents are needed before ordering.
- Shoe brand, model, size, width and side
- One shoe or a pair, and the number of inserts
- Compatibility between the shoe and insert
- Where measurement, preparation and fitting will take place
Can therapeutic shoes and inserts be billed to insurance?
Medicare Part B has a therapeutic shoe and insert benefit for eligible people with diabetes and qualifying foot disease. The doctor treating the diabetes must certify the need, and a qualified doctor must order the footwear. Medicare also has requirements for the professionals and suppliers involved. Having diabetes alone does not confirm eligibility.
Your plan, clinical documentation, supplier arrangements and previous footwear benefits need review. Medrax operates as an out of network supplier. Ask about participation and assignment if Medicare is involved, and request an explanation of your expected cost before an order. A product listing or callback request is not an insurance approval.
Start with a short request
Submit your name and phone number for a review and choose diabetes supplies. During the callback, tell our team that you are asking about diabetic shoes or inserts. We will confirm the product details and explain how to provide any required prescription or insurance documents. A cash price is available on request.
